QUESTION:  I have four jars of peanut butter and have eaten two sandwiches. What should I do? Throw it away, return it or just keep it?

ANSWER: The Food and Drug Administration is still investigating the salmonella outbreak that is affecting hundreds of people across the country.  It updates its Web site regularly with new details about products that are being recalled due to salmonella concerns.

So far, the recall involves different brands of peanut butter cookies, crackers, snack bars, dog treats and ice cream. Peanut butter in a jar is safe from contamination according to the latest information from the FDA.  It appears you are safe to keep eating your peanut butter sandwiches. So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with pet food products but hundreds of people have gotten sick.
