Spurred on by a four-run third inning, the Danville Braves defeated the Bluefield Orioles 5-1 Friday night at Dan Daniel Memorial Park.

Catcher Osman Marval went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a double and sacrifice fly. Travis Adair and Cory Harrilchak each had RBI doubles in the third inning. Harrilchak’s line drive to left scored L.V. Ware and Adair.

Danville’s pitchers held Bluefield scoreless through the first eight innings. Starter Brett Oberholtzer picked up the win, after working five innings and allowing only one hit and strucking out six.

The two teams conclude their three-game series at 7 p.m. today.
