Tigers get past Cavaliers
CHATHAM — Zach Edmunds scored 18 points and Saquan Darby added 13 as Hargrave Military Academy edged Chatham High 54-52 on Wednesday night.
Danny Smith tallied 12 points and James Long chipped in with 10 for the Tigers, who improved to 2-1.
Solomon Witcher paced the Cavaliers (0-1) with 18 points, followed by Patrick Murphy with 16 and Pierre Ferrell with 11.
Rams handle Bucs
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — Devonte Scarver finished with a game-high 25 points as Reidsville cruised to a 78-56 victory over Bartlett-Yancey on Wednesday.
Tyler Barnett added 12 points for the Rams. Ceron Crawley led the Buccaneers with 13 points while Bradley Taylor and Michael Johnson chipped in with 11 apiece.
B-Y (0-3) plays at Reidsville on Monday.
Boys JV basketball
Davis, White pace Dan River
RINGGOLD — Mike Davis and Torrey White scored 16 points apiece, leading Dan River to a 68-40 victory over Tunstall Wednesday night.
Travis Fuquay led the Trojans with nine points and Nathan Morris finished with eight.
Girls varsity basketball
Stephens sparks Trojans
DRY FORK — Catelyn Stephens led the way with 28 points as Tunstall got past Dan River 54-50 on Wednesday. Kelsey Smith added nine points and Taylor Dix finished with seven for the Trojans (2-0).
For the Wildcats (0-2), Keah Baez tallied 19 points and Ashleigh Venable added 16.
GW handles Martinsville
Jasmine Hairston scored 12 points and GW (4-0) dismantled Martinsville 69-5 Wednesday night.
Breana Hagwood scored eight points and Antwanique Crews scored six points and pulled down nine rebounds for GW. In JV action, GW (1-0) beat Martinsville 50-37.
Reidsville tops BY
REIDSVILLE — Eleisha Hairston scored 25 points and Reidsville pulled away from Bartlett Yancey to a 67-51 victory Wednesday night. Isley Hawley scored 19 points to lead BY.
Girls JV basketball
Williams carries Wildcats
DRY FORK — Jazmine Williams led all scorers with 30 points on Wednesday as Dan River downed Tunstall 42-38. Monisha Manns led the Trojans with 21 points.
