Former George Washington standout Ridge McKeither has signed with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
McKeither (6-5, 240) played at North Dakota State College of Science last season, averaging 17.6 points, nine rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game, leading the Wildcats to a 31-4 record and a Region XIIII Championship with an appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament.
McKeither was also named to the All-Region and All-Conference first teams, as well as being named Mon-Dak Conference Player of the Year.
“Ridge is a winner,” Tennessee-Chattanooga coach John Shulman said in a news release. “He is a phenomenal addition to our basketball team. He can score it, he can rebound it, he can defend it. He is the highest level guy we have signed here.”
He started his career at Kilgore Junior College in Texas where he averaged 16.9 points and 9.5 rebounds per game shooting 60.2 percent from the field earning honorable mention All-America and first team All-Region honors.
McKeither had ample success with the Eagles, registering 15.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game in his senior season at GW. He was 2007 Western Valley District player of the year, co-MVP of the Northwest Region, first team Group AAA all state and the Register & Bee all-metro boys basketball player of the year.
“You don’t see many kids like that in high school. He’s a solid player,” GW coach Bobby Martin said. “He was a stud. He’s just a hard worker. He’s got one of the prettiest dunks for a high school kid I’ve ever seen. He was a man child.”
