Congratulations, Gretna Hawks.
Jayme Barksdale is the leading rusher with 148 yards. Dickerson had 72, and Berger added 54. Zach Bolman was the leading rusher for FC with 58 yards.
Barksdale also finished with 171 yards passing, the leading receiver was Commillious Waller with 93 yards. Ted Jennings had 38, Rouff had 21 and Berger had 19.
Luke Harris finished with 265 yards for the Buffaloes, and his leading receiver was Ethan Griffith with 94 yards.
So, that is all for this blog. Once again, Gretna wins 35-20 to capture another state ring.

The game is over, and Gretna has won 35-20
The two teams are shaking hands at midfield, and the Hawk crowd is going wild. The two teams are set up for the trophy presentation.
Floyd County has the ball deep in Gretna territory. After a series of passes and runs, the Buffaloes have first and ten on the Gretna 14
With 4:12 remaing in the game, Floyd County is still showing some fight.
Quarterback Luke Harris found Bret Holman in the corner of the endzone for a three-yrad touchdown pass.
Following a bad onside kick, Barksdale fumbled the first snap of the drive on the FC 40. The fumble was recovered by Floyd County, giving them a first down on their own 40 with 4:07 left to play.
Floyd is moving the ball in Gretna territory, but short passes and rushes aren’t getting enough yards.
Harris’ pass is picked off by Anthony Reynolds but the play is reversed on a defnensive holding call.
The next play, Harris finds Daniel Bradford for a first down inside the Hawk 10
After a short punt, the Hawks get the ball on the FC 25. The dangerous Hawk offense is keeping the ball on the ground trying to chew up the clock.
On fourth down, Barksdale finds Rouff inside the five but the play is called back due to an ineligible receiver downfield.
On fourth and eight from the 24, Barksdale’s pass is incomplete, turning the ball over to the Buffaloes.
Gretna couldn’t puncht he ball in from the one-yard line in the opening minute of the fourth, turning the ball over to FC on downs.
After that drive, Barksdale is over 140 yards rushing in the game.
FC 1st & 10, own two-yard line.
After the reverse, Floyd couldn’t move the ball and another fourth down conversion attempt failed, giving Gretna the ball on their own 49-yard line.
On the first play of the drive, Barksdale got the drive going by rushing ahead to the 37.
After another run from Barksdale, first and goal Gretna at the 8.
Floyd County kept their next drive alive with a reverse on fourth and ten, giving them a first down on the Hawk 42.

After the touchdown, Gretna leads 35-7 with 4:11 remaining in the third quarter.
Despite the lopsided score, the Floyd bleachers remain full and most of the fans are on their feet cheering on the Buffaloes.
Darien Jefferson intercepted Floyd County quarterback Luke Harris at the Buffalo 42-yard line, and returned to the 24.
First and ten, Gretna.
The Hawks capped off a six play, 72-yard drive with an eight-yard touchdown pass from Barksdale to Waller, their second scoring connection of the game.
Gretna leads 28-7 with 6:42 left in the third quarter.
After Floyd regained some momentum with the touchdown, Jayme Barksdale and the Gretna offense has stolen it.
Led by Barksdale, the Hawks have come 58 yards in five plays.
Gretna first and goal, FC 8.
Touchdown, Floyd County.
Capping off their first really sustained drive of the game, Harris finds Ethan Griffin for a 31-yard touchdown pass with 10:06 left to play in the first half.
21-7, Gretna still leads but the Buffalo sideline is back into the game.
Gretna recovers the onside kick at the FC 28.
Bret Holman picks up a first down on 1st and 25 for the Buffaloes. After a nine-yard run the next play, quarterback Luke Harris found Christian Rodrigue at the Hawk 42 for another first down.
FC is moving the ball, and Gretna coach Chris Thurman calls a timeout.
1 &10 FC at the Hawk 42. 10:27 left in the third.
Snowflakes are falling gently as the two teams take the field for the second half.
Floyd County has to have some kind of production on both sides of the ball if they want to catch up, while Gretna has tto basically just keep doing what they are doing.
At the end of the first half, Gretna leads Floyd County 21-0.
Although the Buffaloes were to complete a few a few passes and move into Gretna territory at the end of the first half, Gretna has been completely in control of this game.
The Hawk defense has held FC to only 102 total yards in the game, while Gretna used a balanced attack to record 271 yards, 138 on the ground and 133 through the air.
Andre Dickerson leads all rushers with 65 yards, while Barksdale and Berger have accumulated 33 and 40, respectively. Zach Bonham leads FC with 23 yards.
Jayme Barksdale has thrown for all of Gretna’s 133 yards and Luke Harris has thrown for 75 yards for the Buffaloes.
Gretna third and eight on the FC 13.
Barksdale’s pass to the endzone is intercepted by Daniel Bradford at the goal line, keeping alive Floyd County’s hope for a comeback.
FC 1&10 on their own three-yard line.
Moments later, Barksdale rushed for seven yards off the left side to convert another fourth down.
Short time for the Hawks, only 1:42 eft in the half. First and 10 on the FC 14.
On third and four, Barksdale’s pass falls short of Berger to bring up fourth down.
Gretna lines up to go for it on the 50, and Barksdales finds Tyler Rouff for nine yards and a fresh set of downs.
With 7:00 left in the second, Floyd’s Daniel Bradford fights his way past the 38 for a Buffaloes’ first down.
The Floyd crowd responds, but the very next play the Gretna defense gets things back to normal. Quarterback Luke Harris is sacked on second down, and a flea flicker on the next play clanged to the ground incomplete.
After the punt, Gretna first down on their own 31.
On the very next play, Gretna’s Jayme Barksdale found Commillious Waller for a 49-yard touchdown pass.
Gretna leads 21-0 with 8:49 left in the first half.
1st and 10 for the Gretna Hawks after the Buffaloes’ Luke Harris fumbled on the 49.
According to writers in the press box, if Gretna scores on this possession the route would be on.
It doesn’t matter on this possession though, as Gretna sets up to punt on fourth and three from their own 32.
Gretna 1 &10, on their own 24 at the beginning of the second quarter.
A solid kick return by Floyd County’s Danzell Gainnes gives the Buffaloes a first down on their 21.
That was the higlight of the drive, as the Buffaloes had to punt fromt the 28.
The next play Kwame Berger found the endzone from two yards out to give Gretna a 14-0 with 2:09 left in the first quarter.
Following a series of runs from Kwami Berger and Jayme Barksdale, Gretna moved the ball into Buffaloes territory on the 45-yard line.
On third down with eight yards to go, Barksdale found berger for a 25-yard pass completion.
A few plays later, Gretna had a first down on the Floyd 7-yard line.
Andre Dickerson picked up six yards around the left end, first and goal Gretna.
Scary moment for Hawks fans as Barksdale fumbled the snap on the one, but was able to recover.
Floyd County’s first offensive possession looked as if it had stalled, but running back William Wright was able to find 10 yards to keep the drive alive.
After the first down, Wright was contained to force the first punt of the ballgame.
After the punt, Gretna 1st& 10 on their own 34.

Gretna scored first with 8:57 remaining in the first quarter on a 12-yard touchdown run by Andre Dickerson. Sebstian Jakob kicked the PAT to give the Hawks a 7-0 lead.

FCHS blew it again. Winfred Beale trys to make one player the hero every year instead of building a solid “TEAM.“ Maybe he’ll retire one day and the Floyd boys will have a chance.
