Averett finishes in sixth place at Greensboro College Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Averett University golf team opened its season with a sixth-place finish in the Greesboro College Invitational played Monday and Tuesday at Byron Park’s Champions Course. 
The team shot an opening-day total of 312 on rounds of 76 by Brad Hartman, a pair of 78s from George Washington graduate Nathan Daly and Bartlett Yancey graduate Mark Rowland and an 80 from David Hess to place 11th out of 16 teams after day one. 
The Cougars shot 292 on Tuesday with four solid rounds turned in by Hartman (71), Daly (72), Joe Goldsmidth (73) and Hess (76).
Huntington College won the tournament with a two-day total of 580. Averett travels to Farmville next week to compete in the Hampton-Sydney Collegiate Invitational played at The Manor Club.
