Rockingham County Help for Homeless Inc. thanks the many people who made donations during Reidsville’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast celebration. In particular, we thank the Honorable Pat Morgan and Rockingham County Reads, 2009! for being the driving force behind this effort.
RCHH recognizes that individuals and families in homeless situations are actually our “neighbors” and that anyone is vulnerable to the potentially devastating impact of the nation’s economic crisis. In 2007 there were 83 homeless people in Rockingham County at the point-in-time count. The 2008 count yielded 287 people with and anticipated increase for 2009.
The unfortunate reality is that many citizens of Rockingham County could be one paycheck away from homelessness. These numbers are growing daily. RCHH is a grassroots, nonprofit organization that serves our neighbors by providing nighttime shelter during the coldest months; transitional housing with client support services, linkages to community agencies for needed services, and emergency funds to those demonstrating need.
Each donation and every act of kindness is appreciated. It is the love and commitment to service that perpetuates the image of an All-America City named Reidsville.
