Missing Virgil Goode

To the editor:

I am writing to express my utter and total disgust with Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th. On several occasions, I have sent him e-mails on issues and have received no reply.

But this is not uncommon, because I know of others who cannot get a reply or a straight answer from him. He is a poor example of a congressman in the poorest example of Congress that we have had in the last 100 years. He is a lapdog of Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Party that is wastefully spending money like there is no end to it.

Who would have ever thought that the Chinese would have to advise us to spend less money and Russia’s Vladimir Putin would have to say anything about not raising taxes because of the effect on the economy? Every time I sent a letter or e-mail to Vigil Goode, I got a reply. Even if it was not the one I wanted, I knew where he stood. The same cannot be said about our New York lawyer, Tom Perriello. I only hope that Goode runs again. We need someone not willing to waste our money like Perriello and crew.

news.  Perriello has been in office for 6 months.  Goode was in office for a decade or more.  Goode did very little for this district except to make us the laughing stock of the nation with his “war on immigration.“  Goode can’t even stay on point - going to the so-called “TEA party” and talking about everything except taxes.

Goode had become complacent in his job; new ideas and fresh energy was needed in Washington.  The voters of this district could see that an voted for the best candidate.  Perriello won; Goode lost.  Get over it.  Peace.

Jackson, you should stick to the issues here. You have no way to defend Perriello’s positions because they are shallow and worthless and you know it.  You have fallen back on the usual liberal tactic of personal attacks on the people you cannot debate on the issues.  Your personal attack of “perhaps Periello can’t read crayon” is so typical of a left winger who has no ideas of his own, and can only hurl an insult when confronted. You are very sad.

Woody.  What you call “pork” could also be called “opportunity” for this depressed region.  Goode couldn’t bring home the bacon (so to speak) while Perriello is looking out for his district (unlike a governor who rejected “stimulus” money while getting his own “stimulus” in Argentina).

And E. Wyatt.  Perhaps you didn’t get a response by Perriello because he can’t read crayon while Goode hasn’t, with all due respect, advanced beyond crayon.  And if your letters indicate how you write to our congressman, no wonder he doesn’t respond - you come across as one angry GOPer who watches too much Fox News and listens to too much Rush.  Try some diversification in your media and you might be able to make a logical argument.  Peace.

I can’t blame Perriello for not replying to you. Based on your track record of letters and comments, he’s never going to even come close to changing your opinion or even getting you to think differently on any topic that you disagree with his position.

Out of courtesy, I guess he could give you a cursory “Thank you for your opinion.“ blow-off email.

Perriello, has more pork in 4 months, than Goode had in all his time.
Goode was bet by ACRON.

With cliches like “stop drinking the kool-aide (sic)“ and “lap dog of Pelosi & Obama” and hyperbole like “poorest example of Congress that we have had in the last 100 years,“ it is no wonder that the conservative GOP is the “party of ‘No’” (and now NO Sanford and NO Palin and NO Ensign and NO morals); they have no original ideas.

And on the Independence Day, I pray that God will save us from the likes of Virgil Goode and George W. Bush; our nation cannot likely survive another 8 years like the past 8 years. Happy 4th and Peace.

I too hope Mr. Goode will run again for congress in 2010.  Perhaps enough people will wake up and stop drinking the kool-aide and restore Mr. Gooode to the seat.  Perriello has demonstrated his eagerness to increase the tax burden on all of us.  As the letterwriter stated, he is no more than a lap dog of Pelosi & Obama.

Let’s not forget what led to Goode’s defeat last fall—his lockstep votes with an administration that abandoned all of us voters in the middle who don’t care about lobbyists’ opinions or protecting the profiteering interests of the greediest among us.  Goode lost in a wave of votes by average people who don’t care about party affiliation, but just want some solutions to our pressing national problems.  His party was (and sadly, still is) completely void of any positive ideas to solve our multiple national and planetary problems and have the gall to suggest that “staying the course” of the last few years is the skippy-dippy thing to do.  Most citizens don’t care who does it, but it’s time for our reps to be all about working seriously on our problems and not about shallow, name-calling and more political partisanship.

Yep. All the neoCON Republicans miss Goode types in Congress, especially those getting “earmarks” like Davenport, North Main Theatre crowd, gay movie makers, etc. Must be hard on them not to get those free tax$$$ from Washington that Goode loved to hand out…
