Desert1cop:
In the world of journalism (and everywhere else), there’s one thing you need to remember.
Words Have Meanings.
In journalism, the original headline was not factual. That was the only thing that I commented on.
Get it now?
An arrest is an arrest who cares who made it,if thats all you have to complain about you should just be quiet !
We own a small plumbing company and have had several customers refuse to pay us and many have aquired services under false pretenses and all we can do is carry them to court and gain judgement. Those people have stolen from us but never an arrest. $60,000.00 bail? People do violent crimes and the bail is set less than this.
No matter who made the arrest, the important thing is that this man has been caught. Stealing is stealing, and what he did is the same as walking in a store and taking something not PAID FOR!
They should have set his bond higher, but the jails are full now and don’t need another mouth to feed
No duh.
That’s why I said the headline was lousy.
“Rockingham sheriff’s dept. makes arrest” would be the better headline.
I believe when a deputy makes an arrest it is considered an arrest by the Sheriff’s office, the article did not mention the name of any officer. Sheriff Page certainly can’t make every arrest in Rockingham County, but they are made under the auspices of the Sheriff’s Department, headed by Mr. Page.
Sam Page did not make this arrest.
Your headline of “Rockingham sheriff makes arrest” needs to be changed.
