Rockingham parents wanted for not paying child support

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office has released its June list of parents wanted for failing to pay child support.

Law enforcement has seen a good success rate with arresting those not paying child support af-ter publishing a list of the most wanted, according to the sheriff’s office.

Dean Venable, public information officer for the sheriff’s office, said one man on the list was ar-rested shortly after the information was released.

Venable said many do not consider failure to pay child support a crime on par with some of the more violent crime deputies tackle daily, like assaults, robberies and drug trafficking.

“We do all that, but this is part of what we do, too,” Venable said.
