The city of Reidsville’s water supply may be discolored and have a mineral taste, but it’s still safe to drink, according to city officials.

A press release issued late Thursday by the Public Works Department said a power outage occurred at the city’s water treatment plant on Wednesday, causing a disruption in the water distribution system. This disturbance resulted in cloudy water throughout the system. Crews began working in the early morning hours on Thursday to correct the problem and continued working through the day, flushing hydrants to clear the lines.

The release also said the water condition posed no threat and is completely safe. For more information, contact the Public Works Department at (336) 349-1070.
