Man jailed on statutory rape charge

Alford Dominique Lawrence, 26, is in the Rockingham County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond as the result of an investigation into an incident involving an underaged girl.

Eden police were contacted by Rockingham County Child Protective Services at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday concerning misconduct with a 16-year-old. Investigators learned that the incidents began when the girl was 14 years old and subsequently charged Lawrence with one count of statutory rape and one count of sex offense by parent role.

Lawrence is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on May 26.
