Eden police have located and charged a suspect in an armed robbery early Saturday morning. The other suspect is still at large.

Police arrested Darius Tremayne Brooks, 19, of 305 Monroe St. in Eden, at the City of Eden’s Fourth of July celebration at Morehead High School on Saturday afternoon, and seized a concealed .380 handgun and marijuana on his person. Brooks was confined in the Rockingham County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond.

Police have outstanding warrants for the arrest of Damion Lavon Taylor, 21, of 636 Lee St. in Eden, for robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of second degree kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle. Police served warrants on Brooks for the same charges.

At approximately 12:18 a.m. Saturday, patrol officers responded a call in reference to an armed robbery at 1231 Robin Road in Eden. The victim said that two black males armed with handguns approached him as he walked outside to lock his vehicle, according to a news release from the Eden Police Department.

The suspects reached inside the victim’s pocket, pulled out money and jewelry, and ordered the victim to go inside the residence. The suspects tied the victim’s hands and put him inside a closet and began ransacking the residence.

As the suspects were searching the residence, the victim’s girlfriend entered the house, according to the police department narrative. The suspects blindfolded her and placed her in a closet separate from her boyfriend. The suspects continued ransacking the residence and left in the victim’s black 1978 Chevrolet Caprice.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Department found the stolen vehicle in a field at about 5:20 a.m. Saturday. It appeared that someone had tried to set the vehicle on fire.

Anyone with information related to the armed robbery or the location of the suspects is asked to contact Lt. M.T. Frazier or Detective Paul Moore at the Eden Police Department at (336) 623-9240 or (336) 623-9755.
