Eden reports wastewater spill

                    The city of Eden had a wastewater spill Wednesday, 
The spill was an estimated 13,783 gallons at three locations due to heavy rainfall.  A manhole at Tanyard Creek had a spill of 2,124 gallons, a manhole to Dan River had a spill of 6,619 gallons, and a surge tank at Meadow Greens pump station had a spill of 5,040 gallons. The untreated wastewater spilled into the Dan River in the Roanoke River Basin.

The Division of Water Quality was notified of Thursday and is reviewing the matter. For information, contact the city of Eden Collection and Distribution Division at -627-7783.
House Bill 1160, which the General Assembly enacted in July 1999, requires that municipalities, animal operations, industries and others who operate waste handling systems issue news releases when a waste spill of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface water.
