Crime briefs: Suspects sought in home invasion

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about a home invasion in the early hours of Saturday morning on the outskirts of Reidsville.
The homeowner, Christina Mae Jerrell of 121 Bar S Trail, told Deputy Tony Walker that she had been sitting on the couch with her 3-year-old child watching TV when several suspects dressed in black, wearing masks and gloves, entered her home. The suspects were armed with a long gun and a handgun. The victim said the suspects covered her and her child’s heads as they pointed their guns at them. They stole her cell phone and a small amount of cash before leaving the residence. The cell phone is a white and purple Motorola valued at $100.
The victim believed five or six suspects entered her home. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (336) 349-9683 or Detective Ben Strader at (336) 634-3238.

Thefts, damage reported at McMichael High
Rockingham County sheriff’s deputies investigated a report of a break-in at McMichael High School on Wednesday, June 24. According to a police report, the suspects damaged a door handle valued at $100, a desk drawer in room 500, and a FAA Logo valued at $100. They also stole about 15 keys, a blue and black backpack, a Motorola I576 cell phone and an assortment of tools with a total value of about $1,215.
Deputies said the suspects went all over the inside of the school and broke a teacher’s desk, damaged doors and, in one classroom, threw red and gray paint on the wall where the FAA logo was located.

Mayodan resident jailed on multiple charges
Rockingham County detectives have arrested a man charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felony larceny and misdemeanor larceny.
According to a release from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Caleb Eugene Wright, 20, of 248 Manuel Road in Mayodan, is accused of breaking into a 2001 Chrysler van and stealing two cameras, a pack of cigarettes, a cell phone and a GPS unit. The property has a total value of $2,800 and was taken from inside the victims’ house and car.
Wright is being held under a $30,000 bond, according to the release.

Reidsville man facing felony drug charges
Reidsville narcotics detectives charged a local man with two drug-related felonies after a foot chase on Saturday night in the Snead Street area.
Maurice Caprice Lincoln, 20, of 1513 Vance Street, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Lincoln is in the Rockingham County jail under a secured bond of $50,000. His court date is Wednesday.
Lincoln has been charged with narcotics violations in the past, according to a Reidsville police report.

Man drowns in Caswell County
On Friday, June 26, the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Lakeshore Road in Leasburg in reference to a possible drowning. The Caswell County 911 Center received a call that a body had been located floating in the water of Hyco Lake near this area. Once on the scene, recovery efforts began immediately. The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Hyco Lake Authority, Semora Volunteer Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, and Emergency Management.
The body was identified as that of Robert Allen Michalec, 47, of Lakeshore Road in Leasburg. His body was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation pending the autopsy report.
