Buildings owned by Dan River Inc. on U.S. 86 are on property that was recently bought by JEB Realty. According to the deed, the entire 113 acres acquired in the deal, comprised of parcels in Danville and Caswell County, N.C., sold for $10.
A 113-acre parcel of land owned by Dan River Mills has been purchased by JEB Realty LLC, a Danville company located at the Piedmont Big Sale building, 1098 Riverside Drive.
The Piedmont Big Sale building also houses JEB International Tobacco Company, owned by Jay Barker.
According to the deed on file in the Clerk’s Office of Danville Circuit Court, the property was sold for “Ten dollars ($10) cash in hand paid and other good and valuable consideration,” but the overall property is comprised of several parcels in Danville and others in Caswell County, N.C. One 24-acre parcel reportedly was sold for $1.6 million, but Barker was unavailable for comment on Thursday, so the conflicting sale figures have not yet been explained.
Employees at JEB Realty said they did not know what Barker planned to do with the property.
The property runs west of South Main Street, south from the Danville Expressway and crosses the North Carolina border.
