A Charlotte, N.C. man is in custody on drug and firearm charges, according to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Mike Taylor said Tyler Daniel Bethel, 39, of 7539 Coffey Creek Drive in Charlotte is charged with the manufacture, sale and possession of a controlled substance of cocaine and possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance. The incident happened Wednesday. Bethel previously lived at 58 Hughes St. in Danville.
Bethel was stopped by Deputies Rick Mayo, Justin Nelson, Cpl. Kevin Wells and Investigator William Chaney in the Walnut Creek and Mill Creek Road area about 1 a.m.
Taylor said Bethel was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe and he was alone at the time of the arrest. Deputies found a .45 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun along with ammunition, the sheriff said.
Taylor said deputies found five individually wrapped plastic baggies, all of which contained cocaine, near the vehicle.
Bethel is waiting for his preliminary hearing and is being held without bond in the Pittsylvania County Jail. Taylor said Bethel could get up to 40 years in prison and a $500,000 fine on the possession charge if he’s convicted.

Moving on, there ARE some jobs to be found but apparently SOME people think they’re too good to take the ones that’s available to them. I’m not at all saying that’s the case regarding Mr. Bethel. I know someone personally with a Masters Degree and jobless for the past 5 months!!!! She’s propositioned every week for work but she won’t take it b/c she wants to stay in her field???? Ok, so her mortgage and car payments are behind but apparently those jobs aren’t good enough so she’s gonna hold out until the dream job comes along!!!! People need to get their priorites straight. But folk like hazelseyes67 get on my nerves. I’m a single black woman w/3 kids, an Associates Degree from National College of Business and I make 35k a year and do you know how??? I get my butt up every day and drive an hour to work for the past 7 years! People who know me apparently know I make decent money so I get asked a lot where I work and I tell them. Then they ask where it is and I tell them Greensboro AND we’re hiring. Then they’re flipping out “Oh, I ain’t about to drive down there everyday. You must be crazy!“ ???? Umm, okay but my bills are getting paid and my kids are taken care of. So don’t come to me complaining and crying that you’re broke, can’t find a job, and your kids need shoes when I just gave you an out!Some people are just lazy!

Hey Im sorry this had 2 happen like this Mr.Bethel it’s time to give up the game let it go do right for your family let try to fine a job but it’s funny because there is no jobs because they is all shutting down so we have no other chose but sale drugs the white people do it and it’s ok but when the black people do it it’s time to throw the key away remember when Robert Woodall did it u heard nothing else abut it think about it
WOW, I thought this guy had given up the game and moved his family to Charlotte, NC to live the stress free life. It just goes to show some people never learn. STOP SELLING DRUGS DUMMIES!!!!!!!!!!
GOOD DEED….We need to get all these Thugs off our streets. They need to get a job making clean money like I have to. Now its up to the community to see to it he gets the full maximun jail time. Remeber it could have been your child he was going to sell it to or shot. Way to go Pittsylvania County PD!!!!
